| Comments: | I’m selling my pride and joy. I bought a Z06 and the wife says I can’t have 2 Corvettes. (although her logic is completely beyond me) Up for auction is a numbers matching L-82, 4-speed with 57,000 on the odometer. I can’t verify mileage, but believe it to be true based on key wear items. The car passes annual emissions testing with flying colors, with one examiner commenting that this car runs cleaner than many new models. I am a non-smoker, have never had the car in rain and store it during Chicago winters. This car starts, runs, shifts and drives with no issues. Period. The tires still have excellent tread with a matching, never-on-the-ground spare.
This Corvette is not a Bloomington Gold car, but a head-turning, fun-to-drive classic in exceptional condition. The original silver has been re-painted white by a previous owner - what would be called a 6-foot paint job. Great shine, very bright white, with imperfections that only an owner/NCRS judge would notice. I tried to get photos of the 2 minor parking lot chips on the passenger side but couldn’t get my camera to focus.
I still have the original L-82 finned valve covers (It‘s been my goal to have them restored), air cleaner, wiring shrouds, exhaust manifolds, etc. and binders full of receipts and miscellaneous Corvette memorabilia, including an original 1973 owners manual, obviously all to be included.
In the spirit of full disclosure, if I were to do anything more to the car, I would have the 35 year-old weather-stripping professionally re-done and the door panels replaced. There is also a very small scratch next to one of the non-stock L-82 hood emblems. Photos will also shows evidence of slight wear beginning on the driver’s seat bolster and what looks to be two, small repairs to the vinyl on the passenger seat. There is also some limited cracking of the vinyl on both armrests. Finally, the front bumper was apparently not painted with “flexible” paint, so it is starting to show some very fine, hair line cracks. And, as is customary, the clock doesn’t work
As an added incentive, I will rebate one-half of any transport cost (up to $500) to the full-price buyer.
